Ontem acordámos com neve e sol e fomos passear até Worcestershire (o condado do “molho inglês“), onde havia uma grande feira da ladra. Em vez de cadeiras e mesas-de-cabeceira (aquilo de que realmente precisamos), trouxe um balde de esmalte branco para dar algum glamour às limpezas domésticas, uma forma de bolos em esmalte azul (parece que oriunda da República Checa) e um tecido dos anos 70 chamado Heidi. A boina e as luvas são presente da minha mãe.

Yesterday we woke up to snow and sunshine and drove all the way to Worcestershire (the county of the famous sauce), to a large flea market. Instead of chairs and bedside tables (which we’re in need of), I bought a white enamel bucket to make house cleaning a bit more glamorous, a blue enamel cake tin (apparently from Czech Republic) and a piece of 1970s fabric called Heidi. The beret and mittens are a recent present from my mother.

Back In Cyberspace!

Acabei de instalar a internet cá em casa… que sensação!! Depois de quase duas semanas isolada do mundo, em que observei os esquilos e pássaros no jardim, ouvi as vacas e vesti camisolas em cima de camisolas até que a casa aquecesse (já para não falar em limpezas…), estou finalmente de volta! Amanhã vamos em busca de móveis (em 2ª mão, pois claro… se bem que uma ida ao IKEA tenha sido inevitável). Bom fim-de-semana!

I just set up the internet connection here at home… what a feeling!! After nearly two weeks isolated from the outside world – observing the squirrels and birds in the garden, listening to the cows and putting on several woolen sweaters whilst waiting for the house to warm up (not to mention cleaning…) – I’m finally back! Tomorrow we’re going in search of furniture (2nd hand, of course… although a trip to IKEA has proved to be inevitable). Have a great weekend!

Tem nevado ininterruptamente e ainda estamos a viver num hotel, a jantar cup-a-soup e pão com queijo, por isso que tal mostrar-vos mais presentes de Natal tricotados pela minha mãe? Aqui fica outra boina, e ainda um cachecol que condiz com três das quatro boinas que recebi (sim, há mais duas!).

Obrigada pelo entusiasmo em relação à casa! É mesmo de postal… ainda não acredito que vamos lá viver. Mas a sério que não é assim tão grande! Tem é muitas janelas e isso fá-la parecer maior. E tem um quarto de visitas!

It’s been snowing non-stop and we’re still living in a hotel, eating cup-a-soup and bread and cheese for dinner, so why don’t I show you some more hand-knitted presents my mother gave me this Christmas? Here’s another beret and a scarf that matches three of the four berets I received (yes, there’s another two!).

Thanks for all the excitement concerning the new house! It’s picture postcard… I can’t believe we’re actually going to live there. But I assure you it’s not that big! It has lots of windows and that makes it look much bigger than it really is. And there’s a guest room too!
