Numas arrumações de lãs e afins em casa da minha avó, a minha mãe e eu encontrámos, entre dezenas de novelos, uma colcha em crochet por terminar e a revista – uma Maison et Travaux de Setembro de 1975 – com as respectivas instruções.
A colcha é composta de triângulos com riscas pararelas, e a maneira de os conjugar é bastante engenhosa: rodando-os em determinadas direcções, conseguem-se obter jogos de quadrados com um efeito bastante interessante.
Como nem a minha mãe nem eu gostamos especialmente de crochet, pensámos que se poderia obter o mesmo resultado com um tecido às riscas. O mérito é todo da minha mãe, que cortou, coseu e acertou as riscas de forma perfeita; eu limitei-me a transfomar o quadrado final numa almofada. Aqui ficam as instruções para quem quiser experimentar fazer algo no género.
A while ago, my mother and I were tidying up my grandmother’s sewing room when, amongst many skeins of yarn, we found an unfinished crochet throw, along with a magazine – a copy of Mode et Travaux from September 1975 – containing the pattern.
The trow is made of triangles featuring parallel stripes. The way of combining the triangles is quite clever: by rotating them in certain directions, one ends up with very interesting sets of squares.
Since both my mother and I prefer sewing to crochet, we thought that we could get a similar effect by using striped fabric. My mother did all the work of cutting, sewing and perfectly aligning the stripes and I just transformed the top into a cushion. Here are the instructions in case you want to give it a try.
