Tenho uma nova ferramenta de eleição, que suplantou a minha estima pelo caseador Clover: uma tesoura Gingher. É fora de série! Não há dúvida de que bons utensílios tornam o trabalho de uma pessoa mais fácil e melhor. Comprei-a aqui.

I have a new favourite sewing tool that I love even more than the Clover seam ripper: a pair of Gingher scissors. It’s phenomenal! No doubt that good utensils make one’s work both easier and better. I bought it here.

Chocolate Bundt Cake

De vez em quando faço um bolo. Gosto de o fazer ao fim da tarde, quando a luz na minha cozinha (virada a poente) está mais agradável. Este bolo é óptimo para pequenos-almoços, lanches e ceias. À semelhança de todos os bolos que levam sour cream (natas azedas), a consistência é óptima: esponjosa e húmida. Querem experimentar? A receita está aqui.

Once in a while I bake a cake. I like baking it in the late afternoon, when the light in my east-facing kitchen is most agreable. This is a great cake for breakfasts, teas and late night suppers. Like all cakes made with sour cream, the texture is great: spongy and moist. Want to give it a try? The recipe is here.

Lark Rise to Candleford

Lark Rise to Candleford é o meu mais recente vício. Baseada na trilogia autobiográfica de Flora Thompson, esta excelente série da BBC é imperdível. Ainda só vou a meio da primeira série (a segunda também já existe em DVD) e ando obcecada com as personagens, o enredo, as roupas, a luz, a localização, os actores… Agora quero ler o livro!

Lark Rise to Candleford is my latest addiction. Based on the autobiographical trilogy by Flora Thompson, this excellent BBC series is not to be missed. I’m still on the middle of the first series (there’s a second one already) and I’m obsessed with the characters, the plot, the clothes, the light, the location, the actors and actresses… Now I must read the book!

O estilo Wiksten é muito século XXI. Linhas depuradas, tecidos sóbrios e silhuetas soltas, com laivos de inspiração dos anos 60. A Jenny é uma verdadeira one-woman show: é ela quem faz tudo, desde comprar tecidos de grande qualidade, a desenhar os moldes, coser as peças de roupa, fotografá-las e pô-las à venda na sua própria loja online. É um dos grandes expoentes de uma nova geração de estilistas indie.

Wiksten style is very 21st century. Clean lines, sober fabrics and loose shapes, with dashes of inspiration from the 60’s. Jenny is a true one-woman show: she does everything helself, from buying high-quality fabrics, to making the patterns, sewing the garments, photographing the finished clothes and putting them for sale on her own online shop. She is one of the stars of a new indie designers generation.

Actualizei novamente a loja, desta vez com quatro sacos perfeitos para o Verão. Por muito femininas e sofisticadas que sejam as clutches, há alturas em que é preciso mais espaço, não é? Estes sacos têm um tamanho óptimo e permitem ir directamente do tabalho para a praia!
