Novo esquema cromático preferido: cinzento, branco e azul-esverdeado. Quando tiver uma casa nova para decorar, tenciono dedicar um quarto a este tema.

My favourite colour scheme of the moment is grey, white and aqua. In my next home, I’ll dedicate one room to this theme.

Ribe

Ribe é, indubitavelmente, uma das localidades mais pitoresca e encantadoras onde já estive. É obviamente turística, mas conserva muita vida própria: as casas têm à volta de 400 anos e estão habitadas e bem tratadas; há cafés, um jardim e água por todos os lados.

Ribe is, without doubt, one of the loveliest, most picturesque villages I’ve ever been to. It’s obviously very touristic, nevertheless you feel that it has still has a life of its own: although the houses are 400 years old, they are inhabited and well taken care of; there are cafés, a park and water everywhere.

Esta foi a casa em que ficámos a dormir. Não é o máximo? Vejam só o interior.

This is the house where we’ve slept. Isn’t it something? Just look at the inside.

Paredes brancas, colchas brancas e… chão branco!! Aquele chão de tábuas corridas pintadas de branco que ainda só tinha visto em fotografias. Claro que adorei!

White walls, white bedspreads and… white floors!! Those white-painted hardwood floorboards I had only seen in photos. Of couse I loved them!

Também gostei imenso deste pequeno armário de madeira maciça. Ah, Ribe!

Portas :: Doors

Nos últimos anos tenho sonhado com viagens aos países nórdicos, certamente sugestionada por tantas referências, em revistas e blogs, a casas brancas, objectos de design inteligente, madeira por todo o lado e campos infindáveis. Mas não estava à espera de encontrar portas tão bonitas como as que vi em Ribe! Temos andado a viajar pela Dinamarca, e que país fora de série! Estou totalmente conquistada.

Over the last years I’ve been dreaming of travelling to the nordic countries, certainly because of reading so much (both in magazines and blogs) about white homes, cleverly-designed objects, wood everywhere and large fields. But I wasn’t prepared to find such beautiful front doors like the ones I saw in Ribe! We’ve been travelling around Denmark, and what an amazing country! I am completely head over heels.

The Euro Bee :: September

Fui desafiada a participar num quilting bee (uma estreia). O Euro Bee é composto por doze europeias: todos os meses uma das participantes envia tecidos e sugestões às restantes onze, que, no final desse mês, lhe enviam um bloco pronto. Nessa altura, a primeira terá blocos suficientes para fazer um quilt top. Este é o mês da Isa, uma dinamarquesa que quer fazer um quilt de picnic com estes tecidos.

I have a new challenge: I’m participating in my first quilting bee. The Euro Bee has 12 European players: each month one of the participants sends fabrics and directions to the other 11; by the end of that month, they’ll send her a finished block. She will then have enough blocks to make a quilt top. This is Isa‘s month: she is a Danish lady who wishes to make a picnic quilt with these fabrics.

Estes foram os cinco padrões que recebi, acompanhados por uma tira de tecido branco. A Isa queria que fizessemos quadrados e/ou rectângulos concêntricos, de acordo com este esquema.

These were the 5 prints I received, along with a piece of white fabric. Isa wanted us to follow these examples in order to sew square-in-square blocks.

Optei por fazer apenas um quadrado-dentro-de-quadrados, tendo dividido todos os padrões com recurso a uma moldura em branco. Foi uma experiência diferente e estimulante. Venha o próximo mês!

I decided to make just one square-in-square and I sewed thin white frames between the prints. This proved to be a different, rather stimulating experience. I can’t wait for next month!
