There’s something about tartan that inevitably takes me back to school. Covered books, brand new notebooks, kilts, knee high socks, sheep leather shoes and loden coats, all of these things say September to me (although September in Portugal is quite a hot month, but that’s a whole nother story).
I made this bag using pure wool Scottish kilts that I took apart in order to utilise their excellent fabric. I’m still in love with this bag pattern I designed last year: it’s roomy without being enormous, it’s got an array of pockets and it’s ideal for carrying notebooks, a lever arch file or even a laptop. It’s now on its way to Marta’s, who wrote me an email last week asking if I had any tweed or tartan bags in stock — a great coincidence, as I was precisely finishing this one!

Special request. I have a kilt that was my daughter's when she was about six. She's now twenty. Would you consider incorporating it into a bag?
