Todas as noites tenho acolchoado à mão o meu quilt. Cada linha demora cerca de uma hora e o que me vale é a televisão estar constantemente a passar episódios do Poirot e da Miss Marple. Para combater a monotonia, ontem à tarde fiz este pouf para a nossa sala. É a versão mais pequena dos Gum Drop Pillows da Amy Butler, um dos meus moldes preferidos de sempre: fácil, rápido e eficaz. Já o já fiz várias vezes ao longo dos anos e espero fazer pelo menos mais dois num futuro próximo: outro (maior) para a sala e um para o quarto do bebé.
Every evening I’ve been hand-quilting my coin quilt. Each line takes me roughly one hour and what keeps me going is the constant replays of Poirot and Miss Marple on tv. As a way to fight monotony, yesterday I made this ottoman for our sitting room. It’s the smaller version of the Gum Drop Pillows by Amy Butler, one of my favourite patterns ever: easy, fast and so rewarding. I’ve made it several times in the past and I intend to make at least two more in the near future: a larger one also for the sitting room and one for the nursery.

The fist time I made an ottoman like this I stuffed it with polyfill (toy stuffing). However, that makes the pillow too soft and as a result every time you sit on it the seams are under stress. It looks good but it tears easily!
I now stuff these with polystyrene beans.

Eh Eh Eh. Gostei do Poitot e da Marple. Eu tenho a colecção completa, mais o S. Holmes e o Maigret. Adoro essas séries!

Essas séries são a minha companhia ao serão pois não tenho tvcabo no campo e por isso vejo DVDs. Não queria nem trazer televisão para cá, mas ao fim de uns dias o silêncio ficou com um som apurado de solidão e a solidão não quer nada comigo, é mais para os “lobos do mar”!

Concha, thanks for the reply. Great idea about the beans filling. I had not done it because I thought that you had to fill it with the polyfill thing and also thought it might be too soft/unstable. Muito obrigada 🙂

I wish I could tell you the exact amount of beans it needs but I can't… it took nearly a whole (large) bag.
For my next one (the larger size) I've bought two bags of beans. Let's se how it goes!

Olá Concha. Quando estava em Portugal, onde encontrou o enchimento para o puff? Fico a aguardar mais posts fantásticos, que me dá sempre vontade de fugir do trabalho e agarrarme à minha máquina de costura 🙂
