Hoje não há relato da viagem. Apareceu-me um pretexto para arrumar todo o meu stash e aproveito para o mostrar aqui. Fala-se muito em sentimentos de culpa por se possuir demasiados tecidos e na premente necessidade de declutter… eu não sinto nada disso. Cada bocado de tecido é para mim um troféu e promete excitantes futuras utilizações.
Today there will be no trip talking. Something quite nice has happened and I had to tidy up my stash, so I take this chance to show it here. There’s been much talking about guilty feelings in relation to owning too much fabric and also about the need to declutter… I feel nothing of the kind. To me each piece of fabric is a trophy that promises an exciting, future use.

Cá em casa sou conhecida por gostar de “deitar coisas fora”. Sou vista como “perigosa”. Não é bem assim: eu não gosto é de ter em casa coisas que não se usam. Ocupam espaço, escondem o resto e poderiam ser úteis a outra pessoa qualquer. Não deito fora, dou. Assim como gosto que me dêem aquilo de que já não se servem. Confesso que me faz muita confusão ver armários atafulhados de objectos sem uso há 30 anos…

At home I’m know as the one who likes to “throw things away”. I’m seen as “dangerous”. This is not exactly true: I just dislike having things at home that are not used. They take up room, hide the rest and could be useful to someone else. I don’t throw ayay, I give away. Just as I’m pleased when people give me things they don’t use anymore. I confess I’m perplexed when I see cupboards full of objects that have been unused for 30 years…


No outro dia estava a mexer nos meus charm packs (aqueles quadrados de tecido de que já aqui falei) e separei aqueles que nunca irei usar. Alguém os quer? Terei muito gosto em oferecê-los a quem pretenda fazer algo com eles. A interessada que me deixe aqui um comentário; se houver mais do que uma, farei um pequeno sorteio no domingo.

The other day I was going through my charm packs (those fabric squares I’ve already talked about) and I put aside those ones I’m never going to use. Anybody interested? I’ll be happy to give them to someone who will use them. If you’re interested leave a comment below; if there’s more than one person interested I’ll randomly select the winner on Sunday.

Tecido preferido / Favourite fabric

O desafio é da Kim e consiste em escolher o nosso tecido contemporâneo preferido. O meu é este Mirabelle da colecção Tana Lawn do Liberty of London. O desenho é de 1962 mas foi repescado em 2006; será que se qualifica como reproduction fabric? Estou a assumir que é contemporâneo e não vintage, mas se calhar estou errada…

Kim’s meme is to write on your blog about your favorite contemporary fabric ever. Mine is this Mirabelle print from Liberty of London‘s Tana Lawn collection. The design is from 1962 but it was introduced on Classic Tana for Autumn/Winter 2006; does this qualify as reproduction fabric? I’m assuming it’s contemporary, not vintage, but I could be wrong…

Shop update

Não há fome que não dê em fartura e a minha loja, há tanto tempo desactualizada, tem sido recheada ao longo desta semana. Hoje há três malas novas e amanhã logo se verá!
This week has been a good week for my shop, which has finally been restocked. Today there are three new bags and tomorrow we’ll see!

Muito obrigada por todos os comentários ao post de ontem! Pela primeira vez partilhei algo de menos bom aqui e foi óptimo sentir que não escrevo para o vazio. O que me desanimou na experiência da feira foi ter trabalhado tão intensivamente para nada, mas a minha mãe também diz que as contrariedades fortalecem o carácter… E não foi para nada, porque finalmente consegui acumular algum stock, e isso é positivo!

Thank you so much for all the comments to yesterday’s post! For the first time I shared something not so good with you and it feels great to realize I’m not writing into the void. The thing that let me down in the craft fair experience was to have worked so intensively for nothing, but as my mum also says, bad things make you stronger… Actually, I didn’t work for nothing because I’ve finally managed to acumulate some stock, and that’s a good thing!
