Há 121 anos, passar férias junto ao mar era algo bem diferente do nosso conceito de hoje em dia. Ao folhear uma compilação de exemplares de La Mode Illustrée de 1888, deparei-me com estas toilettes de praia que não resisto a partilhar convosco. Bom fim-de-semana!

121 years ago, holidays by the sea meant something quite differet from today’s concept. While I was leafing through a compilation of 1888 issues of La Mode Illustrée, I stumbled across these beach outfits that are too good not to share with you. Have a lovely weekend!

Introducing :: Deauville Clutches

Para muitas pessoas, praia é sinónimo de águas quentes, palmeiras e areia branca e fina. No entanto, quando eu penso em férias ao pé do mar lembro-me sempre de São Pedro de Moel, a praia da minha infância, onde o mar é bravo e gelado, a areia é grossa e os dias de bom tempo são dias de festa. Em vez de palmeiras há pinheiros, e à noite é preciso vestir uma camisola.

For most people, the beach means warm waters, palm trees and white, fine sand. However, when I think about holidays by the sea, I always remember São Pedro de Moel, the beach of my childhood, where the sea is rough and freezing, the sand coarse and the weather moody. Instead of palm trees there are pine trees and, at night, you’d better put on a sweater.

Há muito tempo que andava com a ideia de criar umas clutches que traduzissem esse ambiente de praias do norte. Lembrei-me então de Deauville, uma praia na Normandia que visitei enquanto fiz Erasmus em Paris. Deauville é a praia elegante por excelência, destino de muitas famílias tradicionais, bem como de bastantes celebridades, desde o séc. XIX.

For some time now I’ve been wanting to translate this northern beach feeling into clutches. Then I remember my trip to Deauville when I was living in Paris as an Erasmus exchange student. Deauville is a fashionable beach town in Normandy, where traditional families as well as celebrities have been spending their summers since the 19th century.

Apresento-vos, pois, a minha nova linha intitulada Deauville clutches. Os quatro modelos disponíveis têm riscas marítimas no exterior e bolinhas a condizer no interior. A rosa em tecido dá-lhes um toque moderno e feminino.

I am proud to present you my new line of Deauville clutches. The four available clutches feature maritime stripes on the outside and matching polka dots inside. The fabric flower gives them a modern, feminine twist.

Julho tem sido o mês das encomendas personalizadas de carteiras. Daí que a minha loja esteja praticamente vazia… espero, na próxima semana, pôr algumas clutches à venda. Até lá, desejo-vos um excelente fim-de-semana!
