In 2011, Fridays are going to be dedicated to celebrating the seasons of the year. I’ve always enjoyed the seasons but ever since I moved to the English countryside I started spotting differences in what surronds me not every three months, like before, but nearly every week.
I’ve always paired months with colours. For me, January is a white month. And April is yellow, October orange and December red.
January is white because I always feel the need to detox from everything Christmas-related. On the other hand, there’s snow, the trees are bare and there’s a lot of void in nature. Inspired by all of that I made this Winter wreath for our front door: I picked some silvery branches from a bush in our garden – I can’t name it but its leaves remind me of an olive tree – and then added some white berries picked from a hedgerow. The wreath was made using this technique.
