Winter :: Forced Muscari
We’ve finally reached March and Winter starts giving way to Spring. I’m glad I’ve tried forcing bulbs this year – my favourite ones are undoubtedly these white muscari (grape hyacinth). Although the bitter cold prevails outdoors, indoors the sights are much more cheerful!

Winter :: A Hen Full of Scones
As far as I know, scones come from a chicken. My mother has a quilted one that she bought in a Christmas bazzar back in the Seventies and I’ve always coveted it. Today we finally made one for myself and I couldn’t be happier.

Winter :: Feathers
The pheasant shooting season closed this week in the UK. There are many pheasants around our house (the males are truly impressive) and one of the huntsmen gave us a pair of them (literally). I thought that plucking them would be quite an adventure but it turns out it’s not as bad as that. And, in addition to a delicious lunch, I’m now left with a box of extraordinary feathers to use in all kinds of projects – I’ve already made a wreath and some arrangements for the mantel but I’m sure other things will follow. Have a great weekend!
