Crónica dos Bolbos :: The Bulb Chronicle
Now that Spring has truly sprung it’s time to assess my bulb forcing attemps in 2010-2011. In this post I wrote about how it all began and which advice I decided to follow and today, looking at all these pictures, I think the balance is quite positive. With the exception of the narcissi in the last photo, everything bloomed. But more importantly than that, I’ve learnt a lot, exercised my patience skills, managed to garden during Winter and had a great excuse to browse charity shops and antique fairs in search of containers. In September I plan to start all over again.

Domingo em Casa :: Sunday at Home
The best thing about living here is the chance to spend Sunday at home without having to be indoors all the time. Spreading out a rug on the lawn, brewing a tisane with homegrown mint, taking off the shoes and (re)reading a book, making the most of this Summer weather we’ve been having.

The end of April is an extraordinary time of the year in England. Never has the garden been so full of sun, insects, birds and flowers. The beds are filled with bluebells, the rhododendrons are starting to bloom, the rowans are in blossom and I was thrilled to discover two lilac shrubs near our house. It feels wonderful to bring flowers inside and to arrange them spontaneously!

Flores de Abril :: April Flowers
Every week I share with you the arrangements I’ve made from flowers picked from the garden, woods or road verges. I love combining colours and shapes into natural, uncontrived arrangements and spending the following days admiring the ephemeral beauty of petals and branches.
