Both Tiago and I are from Lisbon so we had to celebrate St. Anthony’s Day (the 13th of June). In Portugal all through June there are street parties celebrating saints (read about them here) — they’re a great excuse to decorate the streets with paper lanterns and colourful bunting, eat grilled sardines, drink wine and sangria and party all night long. We tried to grill some sardines on the barbecue but it started to rain quite heavily (the joys of British weather!) so we moved the party indoors. And since bush basil is hard to find in the UK, we used regular basil instead!
