Flores da Semana :: This Week’s Flowers
São todas do jardim à excepção dos malmequeres, que foram apanhados à beira da estrada. Gosto mais dumas do que doutras mas, ao contrário dos verdadeiros jardineiros que não apanham flores para não estragar o jardim, eu não as consigo deixar morrer lá fora. Estes são os arranjos que fui fazendo ao longo da semana.
They all come from the garden except for the daisies, which were picked at the side of a road. I prefer some to others but, unlike proper gardeners who can’t bear to cut flowers for fear of spoiling the garden, I just can’t let them die outside. These are the arrangements I made this week.

No Jardim e em Casa :: In the Garden and at Home
Outra excelente actividade de fim-de-semana é apanhar algumas flores no jardim, arranjá-las em jarras, fotografá-las e, por fim, espalhá-las pela casa.
Another excellent weekend activity is cutting some flowers from the garden, arranging them in vases, photographing them and then spreading them around the house.

De Volta a Casa :: Back Home
Estamos de volta após uma semana de férias em França. É bom encontrar o jardim cheio de flores inesperadas.
We’re back home after a week’s holiday in France. It’s great to find the garden full of unexpected flowers.

Flowers, Flores, Fleurs
Gosto mesmo de flores. Surpreendem-me, estimulam-me, animam os meus dias. Mas, mais do que olhar para elas no jardim, gosto de apanhar uma aqui, outra ali, e pô-las em jarras. Tenho-me apercebido de que o processo criativo de fazer arranjos florais é bastante parecido com o da costura: pegando em elementos isolados e combinando cores e formas, chega-se a um resultado esteticamente agradável.
I’m really fond of flowers. They surprise me, they stimulate me, they brighten up my days. But much more that looking at them in the garden, I like picking one here and another one there and placing them in vases. I find the creative process of arranging flowers very similar to sewing: by taking individual elements and combining shapes and colours one achieves a result that’s esthetically pleasing.

Dia da Mãe :: Mother’s Day
Hoje é o Dia da Mãe em Portugal. A minha mãe está cá a passar uns dias connosco, e hoje de manhã ofereci-lhe este ramo de flores do jardim. E amanhã é o May Day!
Today Potugal celebrates Mother’s Day. My mother has come to visit us for a few days and this morning I offered her this bunch of flowers from the garden. And tomorrow’s May Day!

Do Jardim :: From the Garden
Um dia gostaria de passar algum tempo a ajudar uma boa florista. Gosto muito de flores (quem não gosta?) e admiro arranjos fluídos, naturais, orgânicos. Até esse dia chegar, vou praticando em casa, com flores do nosso jardim.
One day I’d like to spend some time helping a good florist (I think they’re called flower designers these days). I love flowers (who doesn’t?) and I admire fluid, natural, organic arrangements. Until that day comes I’ll practise at home with flowers from our garden.

English Country Life :: Daffodils
Há um mês que esperava impacientemente que os narcisos abrissem. Agora, apesar da neve (sim, ontem nevou!!), o jardim está cheio de sinais de Primavera. E eu, cheia de sorte, posso encher a casa de flores! Boa Páscoa para todos os que me lêem e muito obrigada pelos comentários ao post de ontem!
For a whole month I’ve been waiting with impatience for the daffodils to open. Now, despite the snow (yes, it snowed yesterday!!), the garden shows many signs of Spring. And I, lucky girl, can fill the house with flowers! I wish you all a happy Easter and tanks so much for yesterday’s comments!
